THE MISSION Waste Report 2024

18. September 2024 2 minutes reading time

The packaging industry is moving towards a circular economy, driven by new EU regulations aiming for a 15% reduction in packaging waste by 2040, compared to 2018. With packaging waste still at high levels – Germany at 19.7 million tons – innovative solutions are more crucial than ever. From 2030, many single-use plastics will be phased out, and recyclable packaging will become the new standard.

Futury’s The MISSION Waste Report 2024 dives deep into the different challenges and highlights the outstanding solutions being developed by start-ups to drive this transformation.

The report is now available to read! (German only):

We are proud to be a partner in Futury’s THE MISSION Waste initiative. By participating in the Accelerator Programme, we are joining forces with start-ups and other industry partners to work towards our shared goal: a circular economy in packaging. Throughout this year’s mission, we highly value the ongoing dynamic knowledge exchange as it allows us to innovate and make progress together. Many clever minds have been working on creative and new solutions that will make us fit for the future and help protect our planet.
