Preparing early for the PPWR with a PE flowpack for Cafés Méo
Why do we love this story?
Coffee packaging is a challenge for Design for Recycling as most coffee packaging solutions use aluminum and PET to achieve a potent barrier and excellent runnability on the packaging lines.
Replacing these structures with “mono” PE packaging and reaching the necessary barrier functionality as well as performance was a true challenge during our collaboration with Cafés Méo. But after some struggles during the process, we made it happen!

Méo is one of the flagship brands of Méo-Fichaux, France’s largest independent coffee roaster. Being a family business with a history of over 120 years, Méo-Fichaux is deeply rooted in its community. They have hence built their company strategy around multiple pillars: taste, accessibility and CSR, making an exceptional taste and quality experience accessible for their consumers.
We are a group that originates from many family businesses ourselves. With sustainability at the core of our strategy, we align quite well with Méo-Fichaux on the values we live by. This is one of the reasons why we could not have been more honoured to be allowed to take the step towards a flowpack designed for recycling with Méo, adding to the sustainability efforts they make every day.
