Flexible Packaging Solutions
for a Circular Economy

A New Era for Packaging

The packaging industry is in the midst of a transformation. National and international regulations are in transition, as are the guidelines from various retailers. At the same time, internal sustainability targets must be fulfilled, Scope 3 emissions reduced, and new packaging formats implemented to meet recycling goals. Consumers are also becoming increasingly sensitive to both price and sustainability. We can help.

Our Solutions: Designed for Recycling

Our wide portfolio of flexible packaging solutions, including PE-, PP- and paper-based options, features options designed for recycling. Many are already in use with manufacturers across Europe. We support our customers in achieving mandatory under the new Europe-wide regulation, which will demand that all packaging is recyclable from 2030 onwards.

We Guide You Through What Impacts Your Packaging

It’s reassuring to have options, but it’s key to know which one to choose. Staying up to date with legislation is essential, and we constantly monitor the latest changes to help our customers. The main drivers for action in 2025 and beyond are the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Eco-modulated EPR (extended producer responsibility), and SUPD fees.

Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)

The New EU Standard: PPWR

As a member of different task forces and advocacy groups, we gain first-hand knowledge to guide our customers through the 370+ pages of the PPWR and the 70+ delegated acts that will follow. We have elaborated on a few consequences of the PPWR here.

Eco-modulated (EPR) and SUPD fees

The right packaging can lead to significant savings on extended producer responsibility (EPR) or single-use plastic product (SUP) fees. We monitor the development of these fees across Europe and partner with our customers to make fact-based decisions.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

Since 2019, we have annually issued a Group CSR Report to publish our ESG efforts and progress. At adapa, we are dedicated to integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into every aspect of our business. Sustainability is at the core of our activity as we strive to create long-term value for our stakeholders.

Practical Examples of Our Commitment

Category: Social

Materiality: Occupational health and safety

The “Near Miss Unsafe Act and Condition App” project enhances workplace safety by enabling employees to report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions in real time. This mobile application facilitates easy documentation, incident tracking, and corrective action monitoring. Training videos ensure user adoption and integration into daily operations. By fostering a proactive safety culture, the project promotes trust, respect, and shared responsibility.

Category: Governance

Materiality: Economic performance

The Packaging Solutions Designed for Recycling tool helps identify and recommend the best recyclable packaging options from our portfolio. Available as both a mobile app and a browser version, it enables sales and R&D teams to provide customers with sustainable solutions. By entering key packaging parameters, users receive tailored recommendations for the latest materials designed for recycling. This project, launched in 2023, reinforces our commitment to a circular economy.

Materiality: Energy

Replacing the old compressor of the central compress air system in adapa Poland Bogucin not only increased its efficiency but also allowed us to heat the facility water cycle for heating and hot water. The integration of production process heat will reduce our local consumption of additional facility heating energy.

With our sites and Sales team spanning all over Europe, we stay close to our customers, adapting to their expectations every day.
