It’s all about finding the right blend – from PET/PETmet/PE to “mono” PE coffee packaging
Why do we love this story?
Coffee packaging is a challenge for Design for Recycling as the original packaging solution often works with aluminum – a very potent barrier – and PET for stability.
Replacing this structure with “mono” PE packaging and reaching the necessary barrier functionality as well as machine runnability was the demanding target for our cooperation with Cafés Méo. And as always in every good story: After some struggles during the process, we made it!
The brand Méo is one of the flagship brands of Méo-Fichaux, the largest independent coffee roaster of France. Being a family business with a history of over 120 years, Méo-Fichaux is deeply rooted in the community around them. They have hence built their company strategy around the pillars taste, accessibility and CSR, making exceptional taste and quality experience accessible for their consumers.
We are a Group that originates from many family businesses ourselves. With sustainability at the core of our strategy, we align quite well with Méo-Fichaux on the values we live by. This is one of the reasons why we could not have been more honoured to be allowed to take the step towards a designed for recycling flowpack with Méo, adding to their sustainability efforts taken every day.
