PaperFlowʳᵉ P-type: Recyclable paper packaging combines circularity, performance and shelf appeal

24. June 2026 3 minutes reading time

The requirements for modern food packaging continue to evolve. Packaging must be recyclable, provide reliable product protection, deliver strong shelf appeal and enable efficient processing on existing production lines. With PaperFlowre P-type, adapa Group offers a paper-based packaging solution that successfully combines these requirements, providing manufacturers with a practical pathway towards more circular packaging concepts.

Having successfully passed the demanding CEPI recyclability test, PaperFlowre P-type has demonstrated its recyclability within standard paper recycling streams. The solution combines a high paper content with the functional performance required for industrial packaging applications and is already being successfully used by international customers across multiple product categories.

“PaperFlowre P-type exemplifies our approach to developing packaging solutions that combine sustainability with technical performance,” says Richard Bell, Director of Innovation at adapa Group. “What makes this solution particularly valuable is that it enables customers to advance their circular economy goals while remaining fully compatible with existing production environments. The growing adoption of PaperFlowre P-type demonstrates that circular packaging can also be practical and commercially viable.”

Developed for a wide range of food applications

The PaperFlowre P-type product family is available in paper grammages of 70, 80 and 90 gsm and comes in both standard and high-barrier versions. This makes the solution suitable for a broad range of applications, including snacks, crisps, chocolate, biscuits, and cereals.

In addition to its recyclability, the packaging also delivers a premium shelf appearance. Its specially engineered structure reduces creases and fold marks, helping brands maintain an attractive presentation at the point of sale and enhancing shelf appeal.

To further expand application possibilities, PaperFlowre P-type is also available as a pre-made pouch with a reclosable zipper feature, combining consumer convenience with the benefits of paper-based packaging.

The front of the pouch features the word "candy" in a large, stylized white font, with the tagline "Whatever you need, we've got it!" printed underneath. Colorful hard candies in shades of green, red, orange, and pink are illustrated cascading down the packaging, and the white "adapa" brand logo is positioned in the bottom-left corner.

The front features the text "muesli bars" in a large, dark brown font, accompanied by the tagline "Whatever you need, we've got it!" just below. Illustrations of several muesli granola bars are shown tumbling down the front of the pouch, and the dark brown "adapa" brand logo sits in the bottom-left corner.

Designed for seamless integration into existing packaging processes

A key advantage of PaperFlowre P-type is its machine compatibility. A thin PP layer provides the dimensional stability and reliable heat-sealing performance required for industrial packaging operations. Suitable for both horizontal and vertical form-fill-seal machines (HFFS/VFFS), the solution supports efficient production while meeting the performance requirements of modern packaging applications.

Recognition for circular packaging innovation

The innovation behind PaperFlowre P-type was recently recognised with the Pap’Award in the category “Circularity in Food Packaging”. The award honours packaging solutions that make a measurable contribution to the circular economy while meeting the practical requirements of industrial packaging applications.

The recognition follows successful customer implementations of PaperFlowre P-type, including a solution developed to meet APCOA requirements. The project demonstrated how CEPI-certified recyclability can be combined with the technical performance, product protection and processability required in demanding commercial applications.

“This recognition reflects a broader shift in the packaging industry towards solutions that combine recyclability, performance and economic viability,” adds Richard Bell. “With PaperFlowre P-type, we demonstrate that recyclability, product protection and processability can be successfully combined within one packaging solution.”
