The legal framework: The PPWR
The PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) is approaching. For the coming Delegated Act regarding the European-wide paper assessment adapa strongly believes the Cepi test will be the blueprint for it and aligns its RnD activities accordingly already today.
What is the Cepi Test about?
Developed by the Confederation of European Paper Industries (Cepi), the Cepi Recyclability Test Method Version 3 assesses how fibre-based packaging performs in real paper recycling processes. The method simulates key recycling steps such as pulping, screening and sheet formation. By evaluating fibre recovery and material behaviour, it confirms whether packaging is compatible with established paper recycling streams.
Will the fibre content still play a role?
Only a secondary one. Of course, a high paper content should be aimed at, but it is of no use if this paper content cannot be recovered.
Where can I find more information?
For first-hand information, we recommend taking a look directly at Cepi’s website: www.cepi.org

More Information
Thanks to a super-thin, laminated layer of BOPP this Design for Recycling (D4R) flowpack runs great even on older machines.

Thanks to a high fibre-content, savings in EPR-fees are possible in many European countries.

We have been awarded the Pap’Award in the category “Circularity in Food Packaging” for our solution PaperFlowʳᵉ P-type. The award, presented by Pap’Argus and Etiq&Pack, recognises our ongoing commitment to advancing circular packaging solutions.

We are confident that the Cepi Test will serve as a model for future European paper recycling assessment and align our R&D activities already today. Join us on the road to a circular economy!
