adapa Group at CFIA 2026: adapting today for tomorrow with PE, PP and paper solutions

02. January 2026 4 minutes reading time

The requirements for flexible packaging solutions are changing at a rapid pace. With the implementation of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) only 4 years away, manufacturers should act now to prepare. Under the motto “adapting today for tomorrow”, adapa Group, the European partner of choice for flexible packaging, demonstrates how an early switch to packaging designed for recycling helps avoid external pressure and ensures a smooth transition.

Performance meets Design for Recycling

Although the PPWR has been in force for almost a year, many market participants are still hesitant when it comes to the implementation of structures Designed for Recycling (D4R). Reasons vary, from lack of information to cost or performance topics. adapa is driving forward the development of D4R packaging solutions and has already launched numerous packaging made from mono-PE, PP and paper. In close cooperation with their customers, associations and industry partners, the flexible packaging specialist supports an early switch to alternative structures. In doing so, they ensure a smoother process once all details of the PPWR and its delegated acts are in place. To make this transition easier for manufacturers, adapa’s D4R products have been developed with performance in mind, combining reliable processes, high protective functions and attractive appearance and the point of sale.

adapa’s CFIA trade fair highlights:

PaperFlow(re) P-type – Cepi-certified and machine-optimised

With PaperFlow(re) P-type, adapa presents a paper-based flowpack solution that meets the strict requirements of the Confederation of European Paper Industries (Cepi). The paper-based structure is available in various thicknesses and both plain and metallised versions. Thanks to its super-thin BOPP layer of only 8 µm thickness it can be processed reliably on existing HFFS and VFFS machines. It is suitable for many classic OPP/OPP applications, such as snacks, cereals or instant coffee.

PP top and base webs – full PP MAP solution from one supplier

With MonoTop(re) P-type and C-base, adapa presents a PP-based thermoforming system solution. It is Designed for Recycling and can replace classic PET/PE structures. This solution scores high on performance: the PP bottom web runns smoothly on standard thermoforming lines and the top web convinces manufacturers and consumers alike with its smooth peel. Both top and bottom web can be printed for creative, unique packaging solutions that attract consumers right at the point of sale.

Stand-up pouches made of PE, PP and paper – versatile, functional and Designed for Recycling

Stand-up pouches are a growing packaging type across various industries, from fresh food and confectionery to coffee or pet food. adapa offers variants Designed for Recycling made of PE, PP and paper in many shapes, sizes and designs. Optional features such as zippers or opening aids such as laser perforations make handling easier; variable designs with unusual contours, viewing windows and more attract attention at the point of sale.

Printing competence – recent investments and customer centricity

adapa Group is known for the width of its portfolio and its technological set-up. Whether it’s roto, flexo or digital printing, the Group can easily adapt to customers’ needs. It offers everything from smallest minimum order quantities to highest quality big volume roto prints. In order to be the partner of choice now and in the future, the Group has just recently invested into new flexo and roto lines with state-of-the art equipment. Among other, they allow for the application of special lacquers or coatings and full-width 100% visual inspection, ensuring the highest quality. Furthermore, with its long-standing experience in digital printing, adapa helps customers manage varying packaging order volumes. This is especially useful for special occasions, such as order peaks or seasonal variants and product tests. The highly qualified customer service team is dedicated to a seamless transition between standard printing and digital printing processes.
